TO THE ATTENTION OF THE PUBLIC

As Fenerbahçe Sports Club, we feel compelled to make a statement regarding an issue, that we would never approve of and is definitely not linked to our Club, but has been pushed systematically to the public agenda since yesterday. 

Firstly, we would like to underline that we have always respected diversity throughout our Club’s history. 

Despite going through challenging times, one of the greatest assets of Turkish football is the fact that racism - a frequent concern in European football- does not occur in our country. 

As Fenerbahçe Sports Club, we are a leading civil society organization that has always stood against all kinds of discrimination including racism and we act as an advocate for gender equality.  We would like to highlight that respecting all individuals in the society regardless of their religion, language, ethnicity or color is a core value of Fenerbahçe Sports Club. 

Our Club has been allegedly mentioned in the discussions following the statement announced by our competitor club Trabzonspor; which unfortunately included the phrase “After Fenerbahçe game”. 

The motive behind associating Fenerbahçe Sport Club that has millions of supporters with these unacceptable racist discourse put forward by some social media accounts, is very obvious. The underlying motive is to associate this agenda with our community and inform the European press about it with the intention of hurting Fenerbahçe. By doing this, they are actually damaging our country’s reputation.

We stay by what we said, however we will be following-up the issue in order to rule out any speculations.

We would like to inform the public that we are utmost offended that some groups try to tie this issue systematically with our Club and service the news to European public as if it’s linked with Fenerbahçe.
